The Spirit of Ireland
Long before there was Riverdance or Lord of the Dance or even Magic of the Dance or any other of those “Oirish” Dance shows with blaring playback music and glitzy glamour there was ‘The Spirit of Ireland’ which was Ireland’s first national and international success story.
It first toured the Irish Centers and Pan Celtic Festivals in Britain back in 1987, almost ten years before Riverdance would feature as the interval act of the Eurovision Song Centest held in Dublin. The show, which back then consisted of amateurs was helping to bring Ireland’s rich culture to the Irish Emigrants of Luton, Camden, Harrow and many more Irish Centers the length and breath of Britain.
From Britain the group spread their wings and toured the United States again covering the Irish Centers both on the East and West coast. The group have toured Australia and New Zealand on no fewer than eight occasions and the production is still as strong as ever due mainly to the fact that the show is 100% Irish and 100% live. The production has gone from strength to strength, evolving over many years to become one of the most exciting and popular cultural products to come out of Ireland.
This diverse production offers the audience a spectacular evening of traditional Irish dancing, music and song. The performance is all live, featuring award winning dancers and musicians, which interact with the audience as if you were sitting in the kitchen of an Irish cottage submerged in the rich culture of Ireland’s Music, Song and Dance.
