Cast of Dance of Desire – The New Beginning
Christopher Mc Sorley
From the tender age of five Christopher started Irish dancing under the tutelage of Jackie Miller and with her he achieved much success winning the south Australian championships as well as many top 5 placings at the nationals.
At the age of 16 Christopher was offered a place in the critically acclaimed Irish dance show ‘To Dance on the Moon’.
He toured extensively for six years with various shows including To Dance on the Moon, Rhythm of the Dance, Mise and The Spirit of Ireland and was also an original cast member of Dance of Desire with which took him to numerous countries throughout the World.
Christopher has played a major role in the development of all Ceol Chiarraí Productions acting as Principle dancer, Dance Captain and also Assistant Choreographer for various Productions. After touring for 6 years Christopher moved back home to Adelaide to resume competing and in doing so has regained his south Australian title as well as becoming back to back senior men’s Australian champion. Having placed 7th at the world championships in 2008 as well as 12th in 2009, his final wish now is to pass his teachers exam and become a qualified Irish dancing teacher.
Andras Kren
Andras Kren was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1989. He started to learn Hungarian folk dancing at the age of 7 for eleven years.
He also learnt American Tap dance for three years and won the National Championship and was 4th at the World Championships in 2001.
For a year he was attending to the Hungarian Dance Academy where he learnt Ballet Dancing and took part in “Nutcracker”.
In 2000 he started learning Irish Dance and than in 2002 he joined Ronan Morgan’s School in Budapest. During his competitive dancing career in Europe he become 3rd, 2nd and also won the European title. In 2004, 2005, 2006 and in 2007 he qualified and took part in the Irish Dance World Championships.
After finishing high school, he took a part in a show called “Gaelforce Dance” as a back-line dancer.
He toured Australia and New Zealand performing the lead role as Goblin in Dance of Desire where he can demonstrate all the dance genres he has encountered. Andras has also performed with Michael Flatleys ‘Lord of the Dance’ all over Europe.
Kelly Stephens
At the young age of three Kelly began dancing for the Doherty Academy in Coventry, under the principle teacher Danny Doherty. Kelly is a 3 times World Champion medal holder.
Throughout her years of dancing she has won numerous titles. In 2002 at age 16, Kelly achieved the title of Girls under 16 World Champion, which she went on to win again in 2003 and 2005. Other titles she has achieved in her dancing career are the All Ireland Champion first place, North American Champion first place, British National Champion first place and the Great Britain Champion first place.
In May 2007 she was lucky enough to join the show Riverdance, where she got to travel around the UK, Europe and Asia. In 2009 she became a member of Ceol Chiarrai productions taking part in their production Dance of Desire where she toured Australia and New Zealand dancing the lead role as Princess Anu. She has also performed in Michael Flatley’s Lord of The Dance troupe touring Europe.
Nicola Dempsey
Nicola began dancing at the age of 3, training in Ballet, tap and contemporary in London. At 11 she started Irish dancing, placing highly at regional, national and international competitions including the World Championships. In 2006 Nicola began touring the world with Celtic Legends and in 2008 was promoted to principle dancer and dance captain. She began working for Ceol Chiarrai Productions in 2009 perfoming in The Mystical Dances of Ireland as a backline dancer and as lead in 2010.
During Dance of Desire’s Australian and New Zealand tours 2009-2010 she was understudy for Queen Aoife and has now been promoted to lead for the recent tour of Dubai and forthcoming tours. Nicola is also an accomplished classical flautist with a degree in Music and performed front of house during the Australian residency with Dance of Desire at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast.
